District Committees
The District has several committees that were formulated to provide valuable assistance and guidance to the Board of Education, the Superintendent, and District departments. These committees offer District residents a hands on opportunity to become directly involved in the decision making process that helps to determine how the District operates and the direction it is headed.
The following committees meet on a regular basis. Information regarding meeting times, meeting dates, and a point of contact are listed for each committee. Some committees currently have openings that are available to the public. Links are provided for those that are interested in learning more about the committees and for those interested in applying to become a member.
The District Calendar Committee is responsible for developing District calendars over a two year period. Recommendations for the District calendars are sent to the Board of Education for official adoption.
For additional information and questions, or if interested in participating on the committee, please contact Diane Lauer, Assistant Superintendent for Student Achievement, 303.682.7328.
The District Accountability/Accreditation Committee provides feedback and guidance on the district’s Unified Improvement Process and other matters related to accountability and accreditation.

This community advisory team is made up of private citizens with financial backgrounds. The committee meets once a month to provide independent oversight of the District’s internal controls; budgeting process and assumptions; financial accounting, reporting and the annual independent audit. The committee’s focus is on both District-level and school-level financial accountability.
For additional information and questions about the committee, please contact Greg Fieth (303) 682-7203.
The purpose of the Committee is to provide ongoing review of the facility planning function of the St. Vrain Valley School District, to advise the Planning Department on matters pertaining to facility planning by the District, and to gather ideas to facilitate planning within the District. Specific activities may include analyzing attendance boundaries, assisting in developing enrollment projections, reviewing comprehensive planning for future sites and schools, and the review of development impacts on existing schools.
The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) was formed with a vision of creating an avenue for students to interact and work in partnership with the St. Vrain Valley Schools Board of Education.
The SAC fosters the leadership process by strengthening the student voice at the high school level. With eight high schools represented: Erie, Frederick, Longmont, Lyons, Mead, Niwot, Silver Creek, Skyline, plus Olde Columbine High School and the St. Vrain Online Global Academy, the SAC typically meets six times per year with the Board of Education with at least one Assistant Superintendent and two board members in attendance.
Students are appointed to the SAC by their respective principals and vice principals based on their leadership skills, academic performance and community involvement. Each high school has 3-4 representatives from their junior and senior classes.
SAC is proud to work closely with the St. Vrain Valley Schools student body comprised of approximately 33,000 students to strengthen the student voice in decision-making and problem-solving processes.
The support of the district’s Board of Education, Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendents has made this process a comprehensive part of the St. Vrain Valley Schools culture. The combination of administrators and students collaborating together to achieve academic excellence is helping to provide the highest quality of governance and success in our schools.

About
The Student Senate is an after school club available to SVVSD high school students. The club exists to examine Colorado’s legislative process and provide student feedback on existing legislative proposals. We will meet prior to the 2019 legislative session to review the process in general. After the legislature convenes in January, we will meet bi-weekly to review and discuss actual legislation. Depending on the size of the club, we will either have small-group discussions, or we will implement the “rules of the Senate” and conduct mock debates exploring the merits and deficiencies of different proposals.
Please note: We will continue accepting interested students throughout the year. If you miss a meeting, or can’t make all the meetings, that’s okay. All high school students are welcome to attend and please feel free to bring a friend.
Final Meeting
The final meeting will take place at the Colorado State Capitol, on Thursday, March 21.
