Student Data Privacy – Educator Resources
When considering a new digital resource (free or paid, app or web-based) it’s imperative that teachers and schools look at what student data, if any, will be provided to the vendor and whether or not the vendor is committed to protecting the data as required under FERPA and the Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act.
The following resources are available to help teachers, staff, and administrators evaluate and select digital resources that appropriately protect student data.
- Selecting 3rd Party Digital Resources: This flowchart is for evaluating a provider’s protection of student data
- Request a Resource: This form is for teachers and campuses to report the applications and services in use and the student data shared with these providers so that we may publish this information on our public website (Codex) as required by the Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act.
- Opt-in Letter: Do you need an opt-in letter to send to parents? Go to Codex, log in, select a title, click Opt-In Letter Generator
