The following courses are recommended Laboratory Safety Training Courses for St. Vrain staff members. All are free courses and fulfill the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements for school lab safety certification.
Chemical Safety Course – This is a Public School Works Course with a goal of providing required awareness training in the occupational hazards common to the handling and use of chemicals, methods and techniques used for evaluating and minimizing chemical exposure, measures employees can take to protect themselves from chemical hazards, safe practices for chemical storage and waste disposal, and the correct response to emergency situations involving chemical spills. Laboratory Safety Course – This is a Public School Works Course with a goal of providing required awareness training in the occupational hazards common to most laboratory operations, safe work practices to help reduce or eliminate exposure to these hazards, special equipment and precautions to ensure personal safety, and the correct response to emergency situations in laboratories. School Laboratory Safety Course – This is a FLINN Scientific Training designed to fulfill the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for the United Nations Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for the classification and identification of chemical hazards. By watching the free 20 minute video below, and taking a short assessment, you will fulfill the GHS training requirement under the new OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Once your training is completed you will be able to print a Certificate of Completion for your records. (See FLINN Log-in Information below)
