St. Vrain Schools Continue to Perform

Every year, the Colorado Department of Education recognizes districts accredited with distinction, centers of excellence schools and other award winners. The CDE celebrated the 2014 district and school performance results in an awards ceremony. Commissioner Robert Hammond honored schools and districts that earned awards.

The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement. On the three-year school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools “exceed” expectations on the academic achievement indicator.

Congratulations to the 2014 John Irwin award recipients:

  • Altona Middle School
  • Black Rock Elementary School
  • Blue Mountain Elementary School
  • Niwot Elementary School
  • Niwot High School

The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools “exceed” expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth and “meet or exceed” expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps.
